Welcome to Lent!

On February 20, 2023

On Tuesday 21 February, join the Holy Cross church family for our famous all-age Pancake Party! Sign up online at www.holycrosshackett.org.au/pancakes (to help us with numbers) .. or just turn up on the day.

5.30pm: a short all-age time of prayer and praise (for those who wish)
6.00pm: pancakes, fun and games
$5 adults, free for kids – pay online, or cash / card on the door.

On Wednesday 22 February, come along to a special meditative time of prayer, and receive the traditional sign of ash on your forehead as a symbol of your desire to make a good Lent.

10am: Eucharist with Imposition of Ashes
6pm: Eucharist with Imposition of Ashes

And from Monday 27 February, please do join one of our many Lent Study Groups for a six week Missional Spirituality course (click here to buy a copy of our Lent book). Take some time out of your busy week for prayerful reflection, to make some great new friends, and learn more about how we can join in with what God is doing in the world around us. Sustaining Our Future Festival

Our North Canberra Sustainability Festival is back 24-25 Sept, bigger than ever.

Saturday will see a popup market, workshops, kids’ activities, a fabulous session on ethical fashion, followed by an evening of Living Democracy and live jazz with community leader Tim Hollo. On Sunday, we celebrate Creation with our joint Holy Cross and St Margaret’s Creation Sunday worship.

Pentecost Sunday Taize and ABM fundraiser for Myanmar

Our joint Pentecost service with St Margaret’s is 9.30am 5 June. In addition, Holy Cross is delighted to host an ABM fundraiser for people of Myanmar suffering from Covid-19 and military repression. Anglican Board of Mission Canberra is working through its Anglican partner, the Church of the Province of Myanmar, leading this initiative.

Join us for a special ecumenical Taizé service at 5pm
Hear first-hand (illustrated) stories from ABM’s 2020 pilgrimage to Myanmar.
Enjoy a sumptuous supper of authentic Myanmar food with wine or fruit juice (no charge).
Have an opportunity to donate to the ABM’s tax-deductible Myanmar Emergency appeal (cash or credit card). (This event is now over).

Holy Cross regular Sunday worship in person and online

All are welcome to join us for our regular Sunday Eucharist worship services at 9am each week. During school terms these include kids’ church and activities for families with young children. For those who can’t be with us in person, you are welcome to join our weekly Sunday worship online via Zoom.

Occasional joint services with St Margaret’s take place at 9.30am as noted in our church calendar.
