Mothering Sunday Sunday March 15
Mothering Sunday is celebrated on the Fourth Sunday of Lent. It is a time to honour mothers and give thanks for their love, care, and sacrifices. Historically, people returned to their “mother church”, the main church or cathedral of their area, for worship. Over time, the day also became associated with appreciating mothers and family. Mothering Sunday reminds Christians of God’s nurturing love and encourages gratitude for the people who guide, support, and care for us throughout our lives.

Loving God,
we thank you for the gift of mothers
and for all who show us love, care, and guidance.
Bless mothers everywhere with strength, joy, and peace.
Help us to honour and appreciate
all who nurture, protect, and support others.
May your love guide our families and our Church,
that we may grow in kindness, patience, and faith.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
